The Sudanese General Directorate of Passports and Immigration issued an announcement, on Tuesday, regarding the launch of an advanced training program aimed at developing capabilities to detect forgery of official documents at border crossings.
Through the announcement, the General Directorate of Passports and Immigration in Sudan revealed its coordination with the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence to implement and operate this training program.
This procedure comes amid concerns from some Sudanese parties about the politicization of Sudanese identity on the basis of regional criminalization in the context of war, especially with regard to the involvement of the General Criminal Administration in this matter .
It has angered Sudanese citizens in the social incubators controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, who fear that these passport-related procedures are part of a strategy to recruit people into a military context and politicize identity by Burhan’s authority in Khartoum to deprive them of their right to travel and move within and outside the country .
It is worth mentioning that, these procedures related to passports and identity were not the first of their kind, but rather a worrying issue or a recurring phenomenon of the state of insecurity of the citizen following the outbreak of the Sudanese war. In late December 2024, similar procedures related to passports and identity cards were issued, raising the same concern and fears among the citizen, and reinforcing the feeling of instability in the private lives of Sudanese citizens .
