The 39th African Union Heads of State Summit kicked off today, Saturday, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, and is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, Sunday, February 15.
In the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres , the Chairperson of the African Union Commission , Mahmoud Ali Youssef, delivered a speech during the opening of the summit , calling for an end to the genocide of the Palestinians.

“In the Middle East, there is Palestine and the suffering of its people that challenges our consciences, and therefore the genocide of this people must be stopped” Mahmoud Youssef said.
As well as, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres noted in his speech that Africa remains a top priority for the United Nations.

He added: Africa must be present within the UN Security Council, noting the importance of African peoples benefiting from their continent’s resources. He stated that Africa could become the world’s energy dynamo .Also, regarding the Libyan issue, Guterres called on the parties to engage in the peaceful path.
The summit will also address, over two days, armed conflicts within Sudan, coastal states, and the fight against cross-border terrorism . In addition, it issued The main topics include water security, sanitation, climate change , the free trade area, and debt issues.
Armed disputes , unrest , and pressures currently plaguing the African continent. Numerous environmental factors, such as water scarcity, climate change, and and demographic fluctuations, all of these make the summit’s outcomes a matter of concern for African peoples and the peoples of the world, and it is essential to implement these outcomes on the ground.
