Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo , warned of the regional repercussions of what he called “Islamist Movement project”, describing it as a direct threat to the region’s security. This came in his televised address on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, in which he extended an open invitation to neighboring countries and the international community to support the political movement aimed at restructuring the Sudanese state from scratch.
A Roadmap for Addressing Structural Crises:
During his detailed presentation of the vision of “Sudan Founding Alliance”, Dagalo explained that the proposed approach aims to dismantle the roots of the historical Sudanese crisis, clarifying that this vision is based on a package of fundamental reforms that include reformulating the mechanisms of governance and the justice system, with the adoption of a fair formula for power-sharing and the distribution of national wealth, in addition to achieving a balanced developmental leap that ends marginalization in all regions.
Dagalo stressed that the features of “New Sudan” are linked to the existence of professional institutions characterized by absolute transparency, and which take the rule of law and citizenship without discrimination as their basic pillars.
He stressed that no matter how long the war lasts, it will not deter the Sudanese from adhering to their slogans of freedom, peace, and justice.
Clash of Visions: Tyranny of the Past vs Democratic Establishment:
In his reading of the military scene, Hamdan Dagalo held both the Islamic Movement and the armed forces responsible for igniting the current confrontation, accusing them of monopolizing the levers of power in the state for decades.
During his speech, he considered the current war to be a reflection of an inevitable clash between two irreconcilable currents:
– Traditional Current: It feeds on despotism and is based on violence.
– A modernization Movement: It strives earnestly to rebuild the state according to modern democratic principles.
Hamdan Dagalo added:” The transition to this democratic future inevitably passes through the gateway of forming a modern national army, completely free from regional and ethnic loyalties, and disciplined by the standards of military professionalism under the banner of a purely civilian authority”.
The Humanitarian File and Reconstruction:
The humanitarian file was not absent from the speech, as Dagalo placed the crisis of displaced persons and refugees at the forefront of the coalition’s priorities, considering that ending their suffering and ensuring their voluntary and stable return to their homes represents an urgent commitment that cannot be postponed.
In closing, he pledged to work continuously to restore infrastructure and restart basic services in areas affected by military operations.
He expressed his hope that the upcoming holidays would see Sudanese families return to their homes instead of spending the occasions in displacement shelters, stressing that war is not inevitable, and that his commitment to shaping the features of a unified democratic state that rejects tyranny and eliminates discrimination in all its forms remains steadfast.
