The Ethiopian Electoral Commission organized an informational briefing session for accredited members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, with the aim of reviewing the latest preparations and arrangements underway for the upcoming electoral event.
Logistical and Technological Readiness:
Milatürk Hilo, presented a detailed explanation that addressed several topics, most notably the logistical and security preparations through the plans developed to secure the electoral process and ensure its safety.
The presentation also included the readiness of the technological infrastructure, particularly the modern technologies planned for use in monitoring and managing the elections, in addition to community participation in efforts to enhance the presence of women and youth in this national event.
Milatürk Hilo touched presented its commitment to integrity and transparency through the strategic partnerships that the commission has established with various institutions to ensure free, fair, and impartial elections.
Key Figures and Indicators:
In revealing the digital indicators of the electoral process, Hilo explained that record numbers were achieved in the registration phase in two aspects: one being the total number of registered voters, which exceeded 50 million, and the other being the aspect in terms of election centers, 52,029 registration centers have been prepared and opened across the country.
Strengthening the Democratic Process:
For his part, the Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Berhanu Segaye , on the historical and constitutional dimension of this step, pointed out that Ethiopia had previously succeeded in organizing six electoral processes, which contributed substantially to establishing and consolidating the foundations of the democratic system in the country.
It is worth noting that the seventh general elections in Ethiopia are scheduled to be held nationwide on June 1, 2026.
