Houthi group “Ansar Allah” announced a complete ban on Israeli shipping in the Red Sea, declaring any Israeli activity a ” legitimate military target ” from the moment the statement was issued. This announcement came just hours after renewed airstrikes were exchanged between Israel and Iran.
Military Escalation and Rockets Fired Towards Jaffa:
In a military statement issued yesterday, Monday, the spokesman for the Houthi forces, Yahya Saree, confirmed that the group will respond to ” escalation with escalation ” as part of its participation in the “axis of resistance”.

“Saree” announcement revealed the launch of a barrage of missiles targeting sensitive sites in the occupied Jaffa area, confirming direct hits.
For its part, the Israeli army confirmed that it had detected two missiles launched from Yemen, which triggered sirens in various parts of the areas.
The Israeli air defense explained that it succeeded in intercepting one of the two missiles, while the other fell inside the territory.
This military operation is the first announced by the Houthis against Israel since the ceasefire agreement between Tel Aviv and Tehran came into effect last April.
European Move and Sanctions Against Tehran:
On the international level, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaya Kallas , announced from the Cypriot capital Nicosia, spoke about a European trend to strengthen maritime security and protect ships in Red Sea to counter recent Houthi threats.

Kaya Kallas, EU Foreign Policy Chief
Callas warned of the catastrophic economic repercussions of a renewed Iranian-Israeli conflict on the entire region, stressing the need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz immediately, describing its continued closure as ” unacceptable , ” especially in light of the significant economic repercussions facing European countries.
She also stressed the need to secure waterways, revealing efforts to involve French and British forces in securing passage through the Strait of Hormuz when conditions permit, while emphasizing the need to strengthen the joint defense mechanism of Union countries.
The Iranian Nuclear File:
European Union expressed its readiness to participate in developing solutions for the Iranian nuclear program, based on its previous experience in this field.
The European official concluded her remarks by announcing new sanctions targeting Iranian individuals and entities, in response to what she described as Tehran’s ” continued threats to maritime navigation”.
Summary analysis :
Amid these regional repercussions, Red Sea region is witnessing a renewed security escalation, as the Houthis have begun blocking shipping lanes to Israel. The anticipated events will likely lead to a rapid escalation if European Union reinforces its Operation ASPIDES in Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab with additional forces. The Houthis will interpret this as a move by the EU to defend Israel, and they will quickly expand their maritime blockade to include all shipping. The region will then be plunged back into a maritime crisis, resulting in a regional and international economic crisis. Furthermore, the fate of the Bab Al-Mandab Strait is inextricably linked to that of the Strait of Hormuz due to geopolitical, strategic, and geographical factors.
