Maritime security relations between Yemen and Djibouti have witnessed a new strategic move aimed at protecting international waterways from smuggling and piracy, as Brigadier General AbdulJabbar Al-Zahzouh , Director General of the Coast Guard in the Red Sea Sector, held official talks in the Republic of Djibouti with the Commander of the Djiboutian Coast Guard Forces, Brigadier General Wais Omar.
Exchange of security information:
This meeting included discussions on strengthening maritime security and developing joint work, and the two sides discussed joint mechanisms to raise the level of coordination between the Red Sea Coast Guard and Djiboutian side .
The two sides discussed cooperation to combat illegal activities, with the meeting focusing on intensifying joint efforts to pursue smuggling networks and address transnational organized crime.
Both sides agreed to activate channels for exchanging expertise and intelligence information to track maritime threats with greater accuracy and efficiency.
A unified strategic vision:
Al-Zahzouh emphasized that the stability of the Red Sea is a ” collective responsibility ” borne by the littoral states , stressing the need to unify efforts to confront terrorism and growing threats . This move comes in implementation of the outcomes of the previous meeting between the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, Rashad Al-Alimi, and the President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, which prioritized the protection of maritime navigation and securing the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.

The meeting concluded with Brigadier General Al-Zahzouh being honored by his Djiboutian counterpart, who praised the pivotal and effective role played by the Yemeni Coast Guard forces in securing territorial waters and protecting the vital maritime corridor that serves international navigation as a whole.
