Two days ago, the Broad Civil Front in the Eastern Sudan region issued a statement warning of a systematic and gradual Eritrean infiltration into areas within the Eastern Sudan region .
The Sudanese Civil Front revealed in its statement that this Eritrean infiltration is manifested in the form of military, economic and social influence agendas .
The Civil Front said that Eritrea, along its 685-kilometer border with Sudan, has a massive military presence and is equipped with intelligence networks that penetrate deep into Sudanese society, describing Eritrea as using the border as an arena of influence rather than a defensive line .
The statement said that the Sudanese Civil Front relied on UN reports and local sources on the presence of Eritrean experts in the fields of communication and cyber intelligence within border areas belonging to Sudan .
The statement affirmed that Asmara possesses soft power mechanisms and tools in addition to its military strike forces. These soft tools have loyalty networks within the Sudanese tribal and social fabric, attracting local youth to form elites linked to Eritrea, and extending their soft tools to the point of interfering in the dismissal and appointment of local officials to use them for further interventions in Sudanese affairs .
According to the statement, Eritrea exploited the political pluralism and tribal and ethnic differences within the eastern Sudan region, in addition to the deterioration of the Sudanese situation following the civil war and the absence of the authorities’ role in defending Sudan’s national sovereignty .
The statement included an invitation to all Sudanese civil society organizations, political forces, and leaders to unite in the face of this challenge and to deal with it as a threat to Sudanese national sovereignty .
Observers describe all of this as a result of the leniency shown by the army forces under the leadership of Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan is facing the expansion of Eritrean influence, as the Sudanese army forces have a strategic partnership and mutual support lines that transcend borders, in addition to the Sudanese army forces encouraging tribal groups and movements belonging to outside the regional borders .
