In a related context, a statement issued by the international organization confirmed that the Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres , is closely following developments in the Somali scene, while praising the two parties’ adherence to the principle of dialogue as a way to resolve the crisis.
A Roadmap for the Transitional Phase:
In light of Somalia entering a critical transitional phase, United Nations Mission in Mogadishu issued an urgent appeal to the Federal Government demanding that it provide comprehensive consultations by prioritizing discussions with all components and political forces in the country.
United Nations urged the federal government to secure electoral consensus by formulating an electoral mechanism that is practically applicable.
United Nations also called on the government to strengthen national unity by working hard to unify ranks and build a cohesive Somali front . United Nations called on both the government and the opposition to engage seriously in-depth discussions to resolve outstanding issues and fundamental matters that remain in dispute.

The UN mission in Somalia issued a statement last Sunday calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to refrain completely from any escalatory steps that would deepen existing political divisions.
The UN appeal was not limited to the political aspect; rather, the mission stressed the need for Somalis to join forces to confront the main challenges, most notably the humanitarian file to address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country, as well as the security file related to jointly confronting the escalating threats resulting from attacks by terrorist groups.
