Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo ” Hemedti “, commander of the Rapid Support Forces, met On Tuesday, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Pekka Haavisto , met in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, to discuss the political and military developments in Sudan as part of efforts to create a foundation for de-escalation of the conflict, bringing the country to the negotiating table, and achieving peace.
The discussion between Mr. Mohamed Hamdan and the UN envoy focused on the reasons for the outbreak of war in Sudan, and the roots of the conflict between his forces, the Rapid Support Forces, and the army forces loyal to Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, which has persisted for years, leaving the Sudanese crisis in a spiral of war.

During the meeting between Hemedti and the envoy
Hamdan Dagalo pointed out during the discussion that some international parties are dealing with the Sudanese issue with a degree of simplicity, without paying attention to the depth of the real reason leading to the continuation of the war and the exacerbation of the crisis. This approach creates a situation of not achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace.
Hemedti added that the Sudanese crisis is historically rooted in the foundations of the state system, and it is the duty of international parties to propose appropriate solutions by addressing these historical roots, especially the re-establishment of the state on new and fair frameworks to reduce injustice and marginalization for most segments of the Sudanese people.
Hemedti explained Dagalo’s firm stance is on the unity of Sudan, both its land and its people. This stance is embodied in his government, whose motto is peace and unity, and working by all means and methods to find a path leading to peace and coexistence among the people of the same nation, while confronting attempts to tear the country apart and dismantle the social fabric, as happened previously with South Sudan.
